Shayne Longpre is a PhD Candidate at the MIT Media Lab focusing on Machine Learning / Natural Language Processing, applied to informational, social, and civic challenges. His research focuses on training and evaluating large language models, their social impact and governance.
Previously, he was an Applied Scientist at Apple and Stanford graduate student in Computer Science (MS) and Economics (BA). He's also interested in the role of antitrust and law in regulating new technologies. In his free time he enjoys soccer, reading philosophy, and creative writing.
