Bruce Allen Hecht is the founder of VG2PLAY, based at the Cambridge Innovation Center, Cambridge, MA. From 1994 to 2014, he was an IC Design Engineer at Analog Devices, where he developed precision signal processing including the ADAS1000 vital signs monitor, and electrical, optical, and packaging systems for digital imaging, X-ray, CT, and MRI analog-to-digital front end interfaces.
From 2014 to 2019, Bruce developed the Atlas of New Product Development for Analog Devices’ Global Operations and Technology. In 2020, Bruce founded VG2PLAY to develop virtual games for learning. From 2020 to 2023, Bruce was a System Design Management Fellow at MIT, served as the lead TA for the SDM Foundations Core EM.41X, and research on interactive design workshops for sustainable development. Bruce is an IEEE Senior Member and serves with EMBS, SSCS, Computer Society, IEEE Standards Association, and the IEEE Future Directions Committee Future Tech Forum. He received the BASc (1992) and MASc (1994) in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo and the MS in Engineering and Management from MIT (2023).
Recently, Bruce is developing the future of electrical design and systems architecture. Together with educator and innovation champion, John Werner, Bruce co-founded the educational startup Ideas in Action, producing over 2000 talks that have reached over 250M people around the globe.
He shares curiosity-driven design with his family and at opportunities for action-based learning, most recently at the 68th UN Civil Society Conference in Salt Lake City hosting a workshop on “Design for Action” in support of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (#TeachSDGs).
